Shannon is perpetuating a myth that relationships are supposed to be perfect. No person is perfect, and therefore no relationship will be perfect. Even though Shannon and Jack are arguing about bills, that doesn't mean they have a bad relationship. Shannon and Jack need to work through their problems just like any couple has to.
