Compound b has lower melting and boiling points than compound
a. at the same temperature, compound b vaporizes faster and to a greater extent than compound
a. if one of these compounds is ionic and the other is molecular, which would you expect to be molecular? ionic? explain the reasoning behind your choices.

Respuesta :

COMPOUND A IS IONIC AND COMPOUND B IS MOLECULAR.
Ionic compounds have some properties which distinguish them from molecular compounds, these include: high boiling point, high melting point and high and their rate of vaporization is low compared to molecular substances. The molecular substance on the other hand have low melting point, low boiling points and they vapourize easily. These differences are due to the strength of the inter molecular forces among the molecules of these substances. The inter molecular forces between the molecules of ionic substances is stronger than that of molecular substances.
