The treaty of Fort Laramie was signed in order to resolve long going dispute between the tribes and government of United States. This treaty set out that all tribes which are modern day Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota will make peace among themselves and allow certain lands of the outside areas to be accessed for activities such as traveling, construction or roads etc and any wrong doing committed by people of tribes during this process will be full responsibility of that particular tribe and if tribes follow these instructions from the government of United States then they will be provided with protection as well as tribes will be paid annuity of 50,000 dollars every year.
At the time of signing of this treaty, No land was claimed by United States and the tribes that were represented in this treaty were Sioux, Arapaho and Cheyenne along with that other tribes that were part of this treaty were Arikara, Hidatsa and Mandan. Eventually,The government of United States never kept is promise which it made during the signing of this treaty as these tribes were never given any sort of protection and government only made a single payment in regards to annuity that was promised.
