Write an equation of a line given the slope m = -1/2 and goes through the point (-4, -9). First write the equation in point-slope form, then convert it to slope-intercept form.

Point Slope = y-y1 = m(x-x1)

1. -1/2 = m or slope so (y-y1=-1/2(x-x1)

2. Use points (-4,-9), -4 = x1, -9 = y1
( y - - 9 = -1/2(x- -4) -->(y+9=-1/2(x+4)

Now you have it in point slope form. Then convert it to Slope Intercept.

3. y+9 = -1/2(x+4) -9
-9

y = -1/2x -2 - 9

4. Slope Intercept > Y = -1/2 - 11
