The Tell Tale Heart is an example of literature from the romantic era because how its written its written in a first person format. Poe's use of his imagination and taking risks on ideas that had never been used before makes this work a work from the romantic era. In this piece, the main character had murdered and chopped up a body, but later said that he could hear the old mans heart beat. Really I believe it was his own self concise taking hold and his guilt for what he had done. Poe was so unconventional always taking risks way beyond his time
The story of "The Tell-Tale Heart" represented many scenarios and several elements regarding Dark Romanticism. The story focused on the illusion of the dark side related to humans' perception of what is right and wrong.
The story describes about the guilty experience that humans face after committing a wrong act. It tends to explain the vulnerability of humans while committing immoral acts.
For instance, when the main character murdered a person then he felt guilty about his action later as he mentioned about not hearing the old man's heartbeat. Thus, the character was used to represent the sanity of an insane man due to suffering from psychological terror.
