There are basically 5 variations on air masses. Continental (dry), Maritime (wet), Polar (cool), Arctic (cold), and Tropical (warm). You can simply mix and match these to describe the characteristics of the air mass. Maritime tropical (symbol mT) would be wet and warm. This means hazy, hot, and humid weather and since the hot air rises, you will also get a low pressure system (storms). This is why maritime tropical air masses are the only air masses capable of causing hurricanes. Hope this was helpful.
