Empathy affects responsibility because it helps you understand how a person is feeling, it makes you responsible because it shows that you are capable of solving problems. It also helps let the person know that you are there and that they can come to you if they have a problem, an irresponsible person will not look deeper into a person's feelings and they will just spit out the first thing on their mind which can cause even more distress to the person.
