At a local basketball tournament, the cost of 3 hot dogs and 2 sodas is $11, where the bill for 4 hot dogs and 3 sodas is $15.25.

a) Using this word problem, write a system of equations to represent this problem. Let H stand for hot dogs and S stand for sodas.
4H + 3S = $15.25
H + S = $15.25

3h + 2s = 11.........2s = 11 - 3h......s = 11/2 - 3/2h
4h + 3s = 15.25

4h + 3(11/2 - 3/2h) = 15.25
4h + 33/2 - 9/2h = 15.25....multiply everything by 2
8h + 33 - 9h = 30.50
8h - 9h = 30.50 - 33
-h = -2.50
h = 2.50 <====cost of a hotdog

3h + 2s = 11
3(2.50) + 2s = 11
7.50 + 2s = 11
2s = 11 - 7.50
2s = 3.50
s = 3.50/2
s = 1.75 <=== cost of a soda
