u can do this by:-

Converting 1/4 to 3/12

and converting 1/3 to 4/12 since u need a common denominator to subtract. So 4/12- 3/12 = 1/12. Or there can be other methods to subtract by converting into a decimal and/or converting back into fraction. I was also confused in this problem but the store is not between its at the end. So, it was like this her own home and then her friend's home then the store.
