What is nutrient?

- Vitamins protects our body from infections and diseases whereas minerals are required by our body for its development and normal functions.
- Minerals include iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, zinc, iodine, chromium, copper and chloride.
What do you mean by under-consumed nutrients?
- Low intake of certain nutrients in our food and beverages are referred as under-consumed nutrients.
Vegetable, meats, processed food, beverages and salts are rich in sodium. Most of the food that we eat have sodium in it, so it is not an under-consumed nutrients.
Hence, the statement that sodium is an under-consumed nutrient is false.
