Opiod are drugs which are mainly used to relieve pain or in other words they have effects similar to those of morphine. Narcotic are drugs which are similar to opiods that affect moods and the behaviour of an individual, most of them are illegal. On the other hand, barbiturate are drugs mostly used to relax the body, treat insomnia and seizures. Lastly psychoactive drugs are those that cause changes in the brain in terms of mood, perception and behaviour among others.Therefore caffeine is psychoactive drug which acts as a stimulant mostly used to stimulate the brain and causes mood and behavioral changes.

Caffeine is present in many natural plants. It is derived from almost sixty different plants. It is consumed commonly through coffee, tea, energy drinks and chocolate etc.  

Effects on health:  

Caffeine has both positive and negative effects on human beings. Many people use caffeine in the start of the day because it activates them. Alertness which is caused by caffeine is one of its important effects. It can overcome tiredness and it improves one’s concentration and focus.  

Natural stimulant:

Caffeine is a natural stimulant as it activates our brain and spinal cord. Its stimulating effect starts just after fifteen minutes of its consumption and it lasts up to six hours.  

We should be careful in our usage of caffeine. If we use more than 500 mg to 600 mg caffeine in one day then it can cause nervousness, insomnia, irritability, fast heart beat, tremors in muscle, upset of stomach and restlessness. Sometimes it is said that small amount of caffeine also causes negative effects on us.
