In the first chapter of the book, Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different, Jobs credits his father with teaching him how to build things in their garage workshop. He states that his father stressed the importance of doing things right – paying attention to the details and craftsmanship of a project. This lesson stayed with Jobs throughout his career. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail are evident in every technological device he created.

Think about the adults in your life who have influenced you. It could be one of your parents, a family friend, or a relative. In your journal, write about one lesson that you have learned from that person that you hope to carry with you into your adulthood. Your response should be about 150 words.

My parents. They are the type of people who always push for me to do better, and I think that only because of them, I am getting good grades. My parents are also the type of people who strongly hate bullying and believe that I shouldn't try to bet like others, that I should be my own person, and not worry about what other people think about me. My mother's favorite quote is" If your friend jumped off a cliff, would you?" I feel like, in the future, mostly in college, whenever I am going to do something because of peer pressure or something that is dumb, I am always going to come back to this quote. I might even use this quote to help my children.

Answer:

The lesson I learned from my mom is to never give up and stay committed.  She had just gotten into ultrasound school when she found out that she was pregnant with me. She ended up having me two weeks before her classes started. Even while caring for me, she stayed committed to school. Of course, she had a lot of help from my grandmother and great grandparents. I know that she will give me the same help when I am in school. She now has a good paying job and really enjoys doing ultrasounds and taking care of people. I hope to commit to my schooling and find a job that I enjoy as much as she does. I feel like giving up sometimes but I know she will be there to help me. I hope I can inspire my children to never give up and commit to everything in life.

Hope this helps!
