Nucleic acids are among the four biomolecules others being lipids, proteins and carbohydrates.
There are two main nucleic acids, namely; RNA and DNA. Nucleic acids are made up of monomers called nucleotides. Each nucleotide is made up of a phosphate, a sugar and a nitrogenous bases.
DNA contains, deoxyribose sugar, a phosphate group and nitrogenous bases thymine, guanine, cytosine and Adenine. RNA on the other hand contains nucleotides made of ribose sugars, phosphate group and nitrogenous bases Adenine, guanine, cytosine and uracil in place of thymine.
