Well, you could have chemical weathering, exfoliation, ice wedging. 

Chemical weathering is when a rock is broken down as a result of chemical reactions.

Exfoliation is when 
sheets of rock peel or flake as a result of weathering.

Ice wedging results by 
freezing and thawing of water that seeps into cracks in rocks.
