When Marty's sister was born, she weighed 8¼ pounds. At her three-month checkup, she weighed 9 5/8 pounds. How many ounces had she gained? Which computation will give her weight in ounces?

The formula we are using to convert lbs to oz is:

oz = lb * 16   (formulated from: oz / 16 = lb)


8 1/4 = 8.25 * 16 = 132 oz

9 5/8 = 9.625 * 16 = 154 oz

154 - 132 = 22 oz


So...

Marty's sister gained: 22 oz since her last check-up
