as SUNSPOTS.
The sunspots are COOLER THAN the
surrounding area.
Sunspots are regions of reduced
surface temperature on the Sun's photosphere which are caused by concentrations
of magnetic field flux that inhibit convection. They are temporary phenomena,
and they usually appear as spots darker than the surrounding areas.
