The strains of bacteria of genus Pseudomonas show range of effects on Lepidoptera sp. larvae, from harmful or lethal. The Pseudomonas chlororaphis and Pseudomonas protegens, from strains of sub-clade 1, are proven to be lethal to the Lepidoptera sp. larvae.

These bacteria are able to produce chemical compounds known as toxins.
Toxins are harmful and destroy the cells they come in contact with through
various processes.
