There are two ways to do this, the way I would do it is by first dividing each side by 4. if you do this you get n-4=-3. from here you add 4 to each side which gives you n=1
the other way you can do it is by distributing the 4 first. If you do this, you get 4n-16=-12. From here you add 12 to each side, which gives you 4n=4. Finally you divide each side by 4 to give you n=1.
Both give you the same answer, the first way just does it in one less step.
