On February 1, 1960, in North Carolina, four African American college students sat down at a lunch counter and asked for service. Their request was denied and, moreover, they were asked to leave. As a resistance action, they remained seated and demand help to challenge racial inequality in America.  

It should be noted that the actions of four African American college students resulted in A. sit-in movement.
