Dry mouth is a common side effect of a patient taking clonidine drugs.
The following suggestions can be used while addressing this side effects.
Taking the drug at bedtime as the patient will sleep through when the mouth is mostly dry.
Encourage regular sugarless fluid intake.
Chewing gum will come in handy since it will stimulate saliva flow.
Take meals with water or sugarless fluid for easier swallowing and chewing
Avoid tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine (they can dry out the mouth), salty and spicy foods may cause pain in a dry mouth.
