adult = x
children = 500 - x

total fund raised from the adult = $7x
Total fund raised from the children = $4.5(500- x) 
Total fund raised = 7x + 4.5(500 -x)

7x + 4.5(500 - x) = 7x + 2250 - 4.5x 
                           = 2.5x + 2250

Ans: Total fund raised = $(2.5x + 2250)
