Genetics. If the mom is Dominant, the child will resemble her more. But, if the dad is dominant, the child will resemble him more. If the mom has freckles and brown hair, and she is dominant and the dad has blonde hair and he is not dominant, the child might have dirty-blonde hair but more on the brown side, and some freckles ( not a lot but some )
