Here we have an inequality in terms of x, with x on both sides. However, we can treat it as a straightforward equation in as much as we can use our standard operations as long as we do the same to both sides. Here, as we want to get all the terms with x on the same side, and everything else on the other (as we are solving an inequality in terms of x after all), we can subtract 2x from both sides, and subtract 6 from sides. This leaves us the new inequality (which means the same) of 5x>-5. We can simplify this further by dividing each side by 5, leaving x>-1, which is our final answer.
