Cell replication process is also called as mitosis. In mitosis, the cell goes through 4 steps: Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. This eventually produces 2 daughter cells. Cell replication in which gametes are produced is called meiosis. Meiosis also goes through 4 steps, but twice; therefore producing 4 daughter cells with half of the genetic content. Common in these two processes is the splitting of the cytoplasm to form the daughter cells which is called cytokinesis.
Interphase, metaphase, telophase, and Cytokinesis are common in both processes.
Meiosis:
It is the process by which cells produce gametes.
Mitosis:
It is the process by which cells replicate themselves.
The Common Steps:
- G1, S, and G2 phases are common in both types of division.
- Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase are common in both types of division.
- Replication of DNA is common in both processes.
- The alignment of cells in the metaphase plate and cytokinesis is common in both processes.
Therefore, Interphase, metaphase, telophase, and Cytokinesis are common in both processes.
