In your class, 7 students do not receive weekly allowance, 5 students received $3, 7 students revived $5, 3 students revived $6 and 2 students received $8. What is the mean weekly allowance? Explain how you found your answer.

2 students.....receive 8.......thats $ 16

the mean (or the average) can be found by adding up the total amount received and dividing by how many students there were.

so the mean is : (0 + 15 + 35 + 18 + 16) / (7 + 5 + 7 + 3 + 2) =
                           84 / 24 = 3.5 <==
1. Add all of the allowances
2. divide by the total kids (24)
3. Answer $3.50
