Pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses are agents that mainly cause infectious diseases in the body.

Further Explanation:

Many pathogen or organism is present inside or outside the body. Sometimes they are harmless and sometimes they are beneficial for the body. But in certain cases, these organisms can develop the infectious disease in the body. These organisms can be bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites. Infection can develop when these organisms enter inside the body and replicate.

They can pass from one individual to another through air or water. The contaminated water or food can directly infect the organism's health. The symptoms and signs of an infectious disease depending on the intensity of infection. Like mild infection can be treated at home but life-threatening infection needs proper care. A pathogenic microorganism is an agent that causes infections and diseases.

Further Explanation

The process of bacteria entering the host cell/tissue and spreading throughout the body, deeper access of the bacteria in order to begin the infection process

Bacteria that infect are divided into humans 2, namely:

  • Extracellular bacteria
  • Intracellular bacteria

Penetration of Pathogenic Bacteria

microorganisms must penetrate the skin, mucous membrane, or intestine epithelium, the surface which normally acts as a barrier for microorganisms

One type of pathogenic microorganisms are bacteria. In the case of food poisoning, 7 types of bacteria are often found.

  • Salmonella sp.  This bacterium is usually found in beef, poultry meat, and eggs that are not fully cooked and eaten raw. Contamination can also occur if cooked food is mixed with raw food or cross-contamination from food handlers with poor hygiene.
  • Shigella sp.  The spread of this type of bacteria in general through people/food handlers who have poor hygiene in processing and preparing food.
  • Escherichia coli . This type of bacteria usually spreads through food contaminated with waste. This happens on the journey of food from production to the final stage in the hands of consumers.
  • Campylobacter jejuni . The spread of this bacterium occurs through raw water, infected pets, eating meat, poultry, milk, and shellfish that are not cooked properly.
  • Listeria monocytogenes . Generally, these bacteria are found in the natural, digestive tracts of humans and animals and the food processing environment.
  • Staphylococcus aureus . The spread of these bacteria takes place through human skin, acne, boils and throat infections when preparing and processing food.
  • Clostridium botulinum . This type of bacteria is most commonly found in canned food products but not with a perfect heating process.
