York's Medal of Honor action took place during the United States-led portion of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France.  Alvin Cullum York was one of the most decorated United States Army soldiers of World War I. He was also known as Sargeant York.

Alvin York was a Tennessee blacksmith who joined the armed force during the Second World War. Serving with the 82nd Infantry Battalion, he was appointed as the commander. He captured 132 German soldiers killing 25 soldiers on 8th October 1918, in the Argonne Forest near Meuse River. He did it nothing but with a pistol and rifle while on the other hand the German soldiers were armed with 32 machine guns and numerous rifles.
