By start heating the water so,
1- the physical changes to the water will begin by going through different states of matter such as solid, liquid and gas vapor.
2- Water is a compound, not an element (H2o).
3- It will change according to the temperature change also:
a- At zero C° it is at a freezing temperature.
b- when it starts to be heated from 0C° to 100 c°, it starts to change from freezing to the liquid state.
c- At 100C° the water starts to change from liquid to vapor state until it disappears.

Explanation:
When a large clump of ice is heated in a sauce pan at about 1000 degree celsius then the ice will start to melt. As a result, the solid state of water which is ice will change into liquid state.
And when the liquid starts to boil as temperature reaches 100 degree celsius then liquid state will change into vapor state until it disappears.
Since there is only change in state so, it is a physical change. Thus, states of matter will change when there will be change in temperature.
Hence, state of compound [tex]H_{2}O[/tex] will change along with change in temperature.
