1) Federalists believed that a Bill of Rights was unnecessary due to the structure of government under the Constitution. Federalists, who advocated a strong national government, were against a bill of rights because the people and the states kept any powers not given to the federal government.
2) The Declaration of Independence reflects the principle of individual rights. It listed the grievances against the king for abuses of the colonists' rights.
3) The 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reflects the principle of federalism. This Amendment reserves rights to the states not assigned to the national government.
