The two most important challenges faced by George Washington during the
beginning of his presidency were the huge amount of debt that the
government had to pay and the Whiskey Rebellion. The country of America
was under huge amount of debt as the war had just concluded. George
Washington had to recover that debt and improve the financial condition
of the country. He started the tax on the Whiskey and that was not at
all well accepted by the people that loved whiskey. This was a measure
to improve the economy of America, but the Whiskey Rebellion started. he
had to contain that rebellion as well.
