Respuesta :

the answer is C . Many did not agree that Iraq presented a terrorist threat.

The correct answer is C. Many did not agree that Iraq presented a terrorist threat.

The US invasion of Iraq in 2003 did not count with international support and it was considered illegal according to international law since it was not authorized by the UN's Security Council. One of the main causes of this war was the possible threat that Saddam Hussein's regime had weapons of Mass destruction. But, many countries did not agree that Saddam Hussein's government had weapons of mass destruction, and in fact, those weapons never were found. Furthermore, many countries and people who opposed the war posited that it was started only for economic interests, in order to get rid of a regime that was hostile towards the US and that possessed large oil wells. The facts that the weapons of mass destruction never were found, and that the oil wells were secured in spite of the extreme chaos that took over Iraq and the region since then, still wakes controversy around this issue.
