I could be really wrong in this question but for this one u have to subtract the wanted total for the week $1075 subtracted by what he earns in a week $500
1075-500=$575
so a commission is basically the percentage you make for yourself from whatever you sold, so if Maxwell wants $575 extra and he can only get that by getting 3% of whatever the amount of what he sells so you can make an equation as such, [tex]575=x*.03 [/tex]
now if you divide .03 from both sides then you get an equation to find x which is the amount he has to sell in order to make $575.
so after you divide 575/.03 you are supposed to get this number $19166.67 rounder to the nearest hundredth.
so the answer is that he has to sell $19166.67 worth of merchandise in order to achieve that $1075 a week.
