Both novels belong to the literary genre of the Gothic. Both are considered Gothic novels.
The novels _Wuthering Heights_ and _Frankenstein_ might appear to be quite different novels, but, in fact, there is a lot they have in common. For instance, both novels provide the feeling of a somewhat “dark” setting and mood. Even though the novels may not be considered horror stories, both have fear and terror within them, and there exist quite the tragic endings within them both. These are all characteristics of a Gothic novel.
