1. Maria Nsue Angue was the first Equatorial Guinean woman to publish a novel (Ekomo, published in 1986)  
2. Her work is also an important example of crosscultural influences in literature, as Angue was born in Africa and emigrated to Spain at a young age. Elements of African (Equitorial Guinean) culture are evident in her work. However, she wrote in Spanish, and therefore the initial audience for her writings was Spanish-speaking
