The Mississippi River flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the Gulf of Mexico. What can you conclude about the salinity of ocean water near the mouth of the river?

Respuesta :

the salinity of the Gulf of Mexico change from near the point where the Mississippi River discharges into the Gulf of Mexico compared to further out into the gulf (or something like that).

Due to the very large volume of fresh water that is carried into the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi River the salinity near the mouth of the river would be lower than further into into the gulf. The fresh water dilutes the salt water.
