Because migrants often arrive with few resources, they may prefer to settle near other recent immigrants who can help provide these resources. Support and understanding within the community are important. Immigrants may need additional material resources to survive and thrive. New migrants also enjoy familiarity with other immigrants from the same native country. It may be easier for them to communicate in their native language, and acclimation may be easier when they are able to share aspects of their native culture with others.
