How did contents separate? I cant tell what you mean. I'll assume you mean continents. They shifted apart from the constant activity from tectonic plates that move and cause tsunami's and volcanoes. This can also shift land and move entire continents...which one day they massive earth quake and cause the continents to shift apart.
