Around 1000, the Kingdom of Zimbabwe established a city called, Great Zimbabwe in what is now Zimbabwe in southern Africa. this city became the capital of a gold thriving area. It was constructed and erected by the Shona and it serves as a royal palace and  become the hub of trading in the region.

Archaeologists have determined the Shona tribesmen created the city of Great Zimbabwe. The ruins of the city contain evidence of trade with the Chinese, Persians, and Indians. Through the digs around the site, it has been concluded the city was a great trading post connected to the eastern regions of the world. The site was also a center for farming and crop trade in the area as the Shona were farm producers as well.
