The Peace Corps was a program founded during the presidency of John F. Kennedy. This program was aimed at providing medical assistance in countries where there are scarce resources and helping other countries/cultures to understand America's aspirations and values.
This program truly shows "to whom much is given, much is expected." In this case, American citizens are given amazing educational opportunities due to the freedoms and resources within this country. In return, these individuals are expected to help those who are in less fortunate situations.
