some of the cruelties slaves faced were 1. the sleeping/living conditions were atrocious the goal of these ships was to transport large amounts of people so they would be tightly packed in 2. they would be on the bottom of the boat and if anyone became sick nobody would go and treat them. the bodies would just stay with the living and decompose amongst them
They often barely ate (just enough to keep them at least alive), they had to wear chains or shackles all throughout and they often died from illnesses and diseases due to smallpox and measles.
