PLEASE HELP ME! I keep getting the wrong answer.

Given the parent functions f(x) = 5x − 1 and g(x) = 3x − 9, what is g(x) − f(x)?

g(x) − f(x) = 3x − 8 − 5x

g(x) − f(x) = 3x − 10 − 5x

g(x) − f(x) = −2x − 8 − 3x

g(x) − f(x) = −2x − 10 − 3x,

Respuesta :

Given that f(x) = 5x − 1 and g(x) = 3x − 9, it is required to find the value of g(x) − f(x). g(x) − f(x) = [3x − 9] - [5x − 1]. - By substitution. = 3x - 5x -9 +1 -by simplifying and rearranging = -2x -8 -by solving = -2(x+4) -by taking out -2 as a factor of both terms. Hence either -2x -8 or -2(x+4) is the needed answer for finding the difference of the two given functions.
