There are two main aspects of government that exemplify how the framers wanted to have representatives focus on national rather than personal interests. The first is the fact that the framers introduced a system of "checks and balances" which allowed different branches of government to control each other. The second one is the fact that the framers gave most power to the states, as opposed to the federal government.
