Why was British prime minister Margaret thatcher called the "iron lady".

Based on my understanding, this women was called "iron lady mainly because she was the first women to serve as British Prime Minister. and because of this, people saw her as a strong person, and which this would refer to "iron" and becase she was a lady, and that would be practically why she was to be called this.
