Max Weber defined "power" as the ability to exercise one's will over others.


Max Weber considered power and authority, separating between the two ideas and planning a framework for ordering kinds of authority: customary, judicious legitimate, and charming. 
Max Weber characterized power as "the chance of a man or of various men to understand their own will in a public activity even against the protection of other people who are taking an interest in the activity".
