According to my information, I believe that "decision making" would actually begin with "selecting alternatives". As you would then do this, you would be taking out the options that you would have, and because of this, you would then understand what to do next, as the next option would then be 'taking out what you don't need" which would then be the first option. But as for the first step in what to do when making decisions, this would therefore be your (last option) as it would then read the following: "selecting alternatives".
