A total of 306 tickets were sold for the school play. They were either adult tickets or student tickets. The number of student tickets sold was two times the number of adult tickets sold. How many adult tickets were sold?

2x=2*102=204 student tickets
The process can be, solve for x in terms of y, already seen as THE second equation of the system; substitute into the other equation, and solve the result for y, and compute.
