Towards the end of the book, Jane reveals that she is writing the book after spending ten years married to Rochester. She tells us that she has been incredibly happy with him. Rochester treats her like an equal, and Jane helps him with his blindness. The couple had a child, and Rochester began to regain his eyesight after two years. Jane also provides a summary of the situation that the rest of the characters are in now.
