You walk to 51 m the north, then turn 60° to your right and walk another 45 m. How far are you from where you originally started?

Respuesta :

Answer: 92.74 m

we need to find the displacement.

[tex]45 cos 60 = 22.5 m\\ 45 sin 60 = 38.97 m\\[/tex]

adding vertical components to gether:

[tex]38.97 m+51 m= 89.97 m[/tex]

horizontal component:

[tex]22.5 m[/tex]

For displacement, we need to calculate the resultant of above two:

[tex] R=\sqrt {a^2 + b^2} [/tex]

[tex] R= \sqrt {22.5^2+89.97^2} \\ \Rightarrow R=\sqrt {8601.05}=92.74 m[/tex]

Hence, you would be 92.74 m away from home.
