In his poem, David Diop points out that the colonial struggle had witnessed loss of lives, wars and hatred that would arouse new wars, i.e. the trade between Italy and her colony from 1894 to 1892 was worth $1,100 Million, One percent less of her foreign trade implying that these colonies cost more than their worth in trade.
