the oxidation process gets rid of about 90% of the alcohol present in the bloodstream. since the oxidation process cannot get rid of all the alcohol in your body, the other organs must step up to help. the kidney helps to eliminate about 5% of the alcohol through urination, while the lungs get rid of the last 5% through exhaling. the exhalation of alcohol allows police officers to see if you have alcohol in your system through breathalyzers.
